La NCAHF était un organisme de santé privé, bénévole et à but non lucratif qui se concentrait sur la désinformation, la fraude et le charlatanisme en matière de santé comme problèmes de santé publique. Ses positions étaient fondées sur les principes scientifiques qui sous-tendent le droit de la protection des consommateurs. Il préconise : (a) la divulgation adéquate dans l'étiquetage et les autres garanties pour permettre aux consommateurs de faire des choix vraiment éclairés ; (b) la preuve avant la commercialisation de la sécurité et de l'efficacité des produits et services dont on prétend qu'ils préviennent, atténuent ou guérissent tout problème de santé ; et, (c) la responsabilité des personnes qui violent la loi.
